Rival Style Challenge: Iron Bowl Edition

Sweatshirt-Victoria Secret (sold out online), Jeans-Lane Bryant, Shoes-Nine West(old), Sunnies-Target, Bag-Louis Vuitton

It’s rivals week in college football, the week when long standing battles are fought on the grid iron! For some it’s not that big of a deal, but for most it’s a really big deal. Here in the state of Alabama one of biggest rivalries in college football is The Iron Bowl. For us football fans bragging rights are at stake, houses are divided, friends become enemies and the lines are drawn in the sand.  It’s that fateful weekend that comes around once a year until the champion of the state of Alabama is crowned!  Y’all know by now my loyalty lies with my alma mater, The University of Alabama!

I have mentioned before how the major aspect of expressing your fandom is through fashion. You can take it subtle and just wear your colors or you can take it all out and put your battle cry on your shirt. I am pretty sure I don’t know how to take it subtle. For a little fun and games I invited my blogger boo Pepper of Pretty Plus Pep, who is an Auburn Fan (boooooooo), to show us how she shows her love for her beloved Auburn Tigers.

I fell in love with this sweatshirt from Victoria Secret’s Pink collection instantly. Since it only came up to a large I wasn’t hopeful that it would fit, but boy was I wrong! It goes to show try everything on, you never know what will work! I threw this own with my boyfriend jeans and favorite red pumps for an amplified comfortable look.

So is anyone's alma mater playing this weekend? How are you expressing your team spirit?

All The Leaves...

Sweater-Talbots, Skirt-Fashion to Figure, Bag-Fashion to Figure(in store), shoes-Zara(old)

With my breakneck schedule I often forget to enjoy what’s happening around me. I am constantly rushing from one thing to the next often not enjoying any of it! On this fall day I was struck by the absolute beauty of this tree and the leaves falling from it. I wanted to stop and kick through the leaves and enjoy the cooler weather. I reminded myself that life is short and precious that that we cannot run through it day by day forgetting to stop and take it all in!

Outift thoughts: This skirt is another must buy for the season!!! I love it and Fashion to Figure brought it back. It’s long enough that it doesn’t lift up in the back if you got booty and the quality is unbelievable. Especially for less than $40! If you don’t believe me look at it on La Pecosa PreciosaGrown and Curvy Woman and On The Q Train!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving Y’all!

Qulited...

Turtleneck-Old Navy, Skirt- c/oPop-Up PlusNY, Shoes-Jeffery Campbell(Old), Sunnies-Target, Bag-Vintage

Top-Old Navy, Skirt-c/oPopUpPlusNY, Shoes-Belk(Old), Purse-Aldo(Old)

As soon as I saw this skirt in the Fall Pop Up Plus NY campaign I knew it would be mine. Faux leather (check), mid length (check), quilted patter (double check) those were all of my lust worthy points about this skirt. And boy did it now disappoint when I received it! Instantly I knew that I would be able to mix and match with so many of my fall/winter looks.

Exposing the versatility of your wardrobe is one of my main goals on this blog, so I decided to share two ways to style this skirt. One is dressier and perfect for work, the other look a bit more casual and perfect for the weekend and play. I’ve worn this skirt so much lately I am pretty sure it’s in my November favorite list.

What do you guys think? Do you like the dressier look or the casual look?

Timber...

Coat-c/o Eloquii, skirt-Talbots(similar), Boots-Forever21(old), Sunnies- Target

Every winter I look for new and intriguing outerwear to fulfill my coat fantasies. Honestly since it doesn’t get that cold here so I end up purchasing coats more for sport than for functionality. On those rare days when it is cold enough I don’t waste one second pulling out one of my beloved coats

When Eloquii dropped this plaid coat if literally fulfilled every outerwear need I had for the season (ha doesn’t my wallet wish that was true). I loved the plaid and the utilitarian feel of the coat. The shape and shape and design were very different from my other coats.  More importantly the extreme happiness I felt inside when I opened the coat let me know my decision was spot on.

Outfit thoughts: Y’all know I sometimes love an overabundance of print so I jumped right into the deep end and paired my jacket with a red plaid skirt in my closet. Initially I was overwhelmed by the mix of plaids but I realized that I liked to slight contrast and blend of the look. To anchor the look I went with a simple black turtleneck and boots.

So how do you feel about outwear? Do you love it or do you purely view it as a functional piece of clothing?

Winter Wear...

Jacket-Old Navy(Similar), Sweater-Old Navy, Jeans-Forever21, Boot-Old, Purse-Old

Ahhh winter is here upon us and so begins my love/hate relationship with this time of year. I am a summer baby to my core but there are so many things about the winter time that I love. The thick layers, rich colors, and coats are among my favorite cold weather favorites! The hate comes in the form of frigid temperatures, dark evenings and unnatural heat. Booooooo!

I vowed not to go crazy this winter season only adding things that I love or need to my wardrobe.  I found a few of my sweaters had seen better days so I have been indulging in a few over sized turtleneck sweaters that are easy to throw on with everything jeans, leggings even skirts. They are so soft and cozy that I even lounge in them. I picked this one up from Old Navy and was thrilled that matched my favorite fringe booties. It was such an easy, breezy look.

What are you buying or not buying as the cold weather rolls in?
