It’s time for another edition of 30plusstyle! This time
around we are talking about the little black dress! Everyone women needs a
little black dress it’s a plain and simple fact. The little black dress is a closet staple
that is good for any situation. If I can be honest most women probably need
three little black dresses one for play, one for work and one for formal
occasions. As time has gone on the
little black dress has evolved, it has taken different shapes, forms and
styles.
The little black jumpsuit has become synonymous with the
little black dress in my closet. Though I find the lbd necessary, I now feel
like the jumpsuit offers a fresh take on the closet staple. This jumpsuit
easily transitions from occasion to occasion just like the lbd. It was especially perfect for the holiday celebration I went to that evening!
Well y’all I am sad to say this is our last 30 Plus Style.

Dress-Old Navy (sold out online)( Similar), Purse-Vintage, Shoes-Michael Kors(Similar) |
Hey y’all it’s time for another #30plusstyle post and this
time we are discussing one of 2014 biggest color trends gray! Gray is a great option
when you don’t want to wear black, but you don’t want to wear bright colors
either. It’s also a fabulous color for neutral, monochromatic looks. Though I love gray, I can’t help but gravitate
towards my favorite comfortable sweatshirt dress when I think of the color and
the items in my wardrobe.
This dress is my go to look when I want to be cute but comfortable
while running errands around the city. On any Saturday when I’m off I like to
explore the city by hitting up the farmers market, shopping and watching
football. This dress gives me the option to be ready for most occasions on the
weekend. I threw it on this Saturday to
check out a few of the new murals that have popped up in Birmingham, then to
watch a football game.

30Plusstyle is back with another addition and today we are
discussing Animal Instinct. There are two things that I swear by in my wardrobe,
leopard print and leather. Words cannot express how I feel about them. Leather
is quite possibly the most chic material created by man and personally I
consider leopard a neutral. With these two you can go casual or you can go
dressy, you can go all out or you can go simple. There are absolutely no
boundaries!
Creating a chic simple look was my main focus! I wanted to
show how you can use subtle elements of leopard and leather in the same look
and not feel too over the top or crazy looking. I paired my leather leggings
from HM+ with a stripe t-shirt, and a cape trench coat and my leopard doctor
bag. When I put it all on I felt like a French woman running around Paris, or
you get my drift... On a side note I am extremely excited about the tons of
leather and faux leather options popping up all over the place! Bring on the colder
weather so I can indulge in these fabulous pieces!!!

Blazer, t-shirt-Forever 21(old), Skirt-Lane Bryant(old)-Similar, Shoes- DSW |
Just as the drop in temperature symbolizes the change of
seasons, so does the appearance of plaid in stores ever where. We are back with
another edition of 30plusstyle and we are discussing, you guessed it, plaid!
Since plaid can be both trendy and classic we have decided to do a $30
challenge to show you how to be on trend without breaking the bank.
I have told you my lovely readers that I wouldn’t categorize
myself as a budget shopper. I do however shop when there are coupons, deals and
promotions going on. For this challenge I pulled out this Lane Bryant glen
plaid skirt that I got on clearance a few years back and I had never worn it.
This skirt was less than 20.00 and I was so excited when I bought it. I love glen plaid, the way it blurs the line
between masculine and feminine opens the door for a ton of styling options. . With
this look I decided to play up the masculine side of this print, pairing my
skirt with a boyfriend blazer, graphic t and pump.
If you are unsure about plaid or don’t know how to wear it, my
best advice is to start with something small, pair it with a basic opposing
item and create a look that you are comfortable with. As with any trend don’t invest a ton of money in your
item until you are sold on the trend. So how do you feel about plaid? Do you
love it? Do you hate it?

Dress-BooHoo, Skirt-Old Jessica London(Similar), Shoes-Old Zara(Similar), Sunnies-Target |
We are back today with another edition of the #30PlusStyle!
Today’s challenge was one of Pantone’s leading colors for Fall 2014 Sangria! It’s
such a bold color that I knew I wanted something flirty, sexy and feminine for
this challenge. I was amazed at how much I found in the Sangria color family available
in plus-size clothing from leather skirts, dresses, pants, and outerwear.
I fell in love with the dress on Boohoo’s site and was ecstatic
when I saw it came in a shade of Sangria. I immediately fell in love with the
bold color and ruffled top. But alas when I received the dress it did not fall
in love with me, le sigh. It was way too tight around my belly and I wasn’t
comfortable wearing it. I had no idea what I was going to do. I contemplated
sending it back but I loved the way the top fit so much I that I came up idea
to tuck into a skirt and make it a top. VoilĂ ,
a look was born. One of the things I
realized that growing up plus size made me and a lot of you resourceful with
our wardrobe. I spent years working with my seamstress, changing details and
retooling items to create the looks I wanted. I don’t want to lose this spirit
just because I have more shopping resources available to me. Have you ever not wanted to give up on an item
and end up using it for something else?
