Hi Everyone!!! This post is the first in a series of three post this week
sponsored by Catherines! We are exploring a few of our favorite fall items that
are perfect for work at Catherines!
Some days I absolutely don’t feel like getting dressed and I
want to stay in my pajamas for as long as possible. On those days I rummage through
my closet until I find the most comfortable item that I can find for work. And
let’s be honest finding extra comfortable work appropriate looks aren’t the easiest
thing to do. This dress from Catherines absolutely fits the bill. It’s
comfortable, cozy and I felt like I had slipped on my favorite pair of pj's. Adding
my favorite headwrap, a pair of booties and a gold earring, completed my comfortable
look.
The bright fall color encouraged me to figure out a few ways
to style this dress, so I could wear it frequently. I can imagine endless ways
to style it. A heavy cardigan or a belt
would be fabulous styling options.
What do you wear when you don’t feel like getting dressed?
Do you have a go to look or style?

This fall I’m taking a new approach to fashion. Buying less, re-wearing more, and trying new silhouettes. I realize that even though I’m not afraid to try new shapes, I haven’t done so in a while. The only exception to this rule is that over the past few years I’ve fallen more and more into trying new denim shapes. As much as I love my skinny jeans, I also love straight leg, and Mom jeans. So when I had a chance to partner with Catherines to discuss fall style, I instantly decided to explore their denim shapes.
My eye gravitated to the black jean and oversized denim jacket. One of my main reasons to love black jeans is because I can wear them like pants with a great top and still have the undeniable comfort of jeans. It also makes it completely easier for me to wear jeans to work, which is nice. I’ve also been on the hunt for an oversized jean jacket that didn’t have any embellishments or distressing, this barnjacket was exactly what I had been searching for fall.
Catherines has so many great pieces for fall! I’ve already got my eye on a few of their dresses, as I patiently wait for sweater season. What are you shopping for this season? Send me a message, let’s discuss!

Not in a million years would I ever think that I would have
too many swimsuits. When I started blogging years ago, the fatkini revolution
was just getting started and women everywhere were rejoicing the change in plus
size swimwear. These days we have so many choices in swimwear. I even dare to
say that plus size swimwear is better than straight-size swimwear. On vacation my
friends discuss how much they are jealous of my suits and cover up.
One thing that I noticed was missing from my swim looks was
a sporty swimsuit that I could wear for Aqua Zumba and swimming laps. I knew I
didn’t want a super official sporty swimsuit, but I did want something cute and
comfortable for water activities. So when Catherines reached out to partner with me on a post about swimwear, this was the perfect opportunity for me to find the swimsuit I had been looking for.
I picked out this super cute black, palm print swimsuit that
has a secure zipper closure in the bustline, I also picked this leopard kaftan as a cover up. It’s always been my goal in life to be a woman who wears caftans
and red lipstick on a daily basis. Back to the swimsuit, the fit was true to size
(I got a 22), I felt comfortable and very secure in the bust area. It is a cute
as it is functional which was what was important to me. I swam laps and didn’t
worry about a body part making an unexpected appearance. The kaftan is s size 1x
and the fit is super generous, I’m a size 20-22 for reference. I can’t wait to
sport this combo during vacation this week! What kind of swimsuit are you looking for this season?
Earlier this month I had the extreme pleasure of being invited to explore Philadelphia with Catherine's. Since I've never been to been to Philly I jumped all over the chance to go and spend some time with my Catherine's Family. This time I was joined by two more bloggers, my boo Sandra from La Pecosa Preciosa and Alex from the You Tube channel Learning To Be Fearless. Getting to spend time with other bloggers is always so much fun for me!
We stayed at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco, which was so plush, in the heart of Old City Philadelphia. Old City is home to so many historical sights including Penn Landing, Independence Mall and the Historic Museum. It was so cool to see so many of these places!
We also visited the famous "Rocky Steps" on the Philadelphia Museum of Arts and they are no joke! Getting a chance to run up and down the steps was hilarious and quite a workout (currently looking for good steps in Birmingham to recreate this workout). We had a ton of fun reenacting the iconic scene from one of my favorite movies. After that we explored the majestic artistry of South Street and the Magic Gardens. They are unlike anything I've ever seen! I am totally obsessed with the area.
The highlight of my trip was getting to go to the Roots Picnic! If you've been reading my blog for a while, you know how much I love live music. The Roots Picnic was high atop my list of festivals I wanted to go to, and this did not disappoint. Seeing Solange live and in person was life changing, and I do mean life changing. She is pure artistry in motion and the images of her preforming will forever be in my mind. Watching Pharrell perform with the Roots was pretty epic as well.
One thing that Philly definitely has is epic food. We ate at so many amazing places, including my personal favorites, Buddakan and Butcher & Singer. Getting a chance to have an official Philly cheesecake and water ice were the perfect ending to a great weekend. Eating in Philly is definitely a main attraction!
The entire weekend I wore so many amazing looks from Catherine's that fit right into the exploration of Philly. My looks were comfortable and fashionable. I am still completely obsessed with the green maxi dress and printed pants. Oh and the workout pants are the best workout pants I've ever worn, seriously. The waist band is thick, the cotton is soft and I walked three miles in them and didn't have to pull them up once! Catherine's fit is generous, I am a 22/24 in most clothes and I wear a 1x to 2x in Catherine's. Most of my dresses were a 1x with the exception of the white lace off the shoulder dress. I could have gone with the 1x, but I didn't want it to be too tight. You can head to the Catherine's site to check out all of the looks I wore on the trip
Have any of you ever been to Philly? Did you love it? I am planning to back soon!
Thank you for reading!
