The Higher the Better

There are a few things in life that I love more than a perfectly made high heel shoe. The higher the better in my opinion, but maybe not in the opinion of my feet. I found these fabulous Steve Madden shoes after lusting after a pair of similar Christian Louboutins for a while. These shoes are everything that I love satin,
5-inches high and they have bows!!!
I went to Atlanta for New Year's and usually when I'm there I always wonder into a Torrid or Ashley Stewart. I personally enjoy a good trip to these retailers because I can always find something unexpected pieces to add to my wardrobe. I found a very cute harem jumpsuit in Ashley Stewart that I thought would look great with my new shoes and to my surprise it was only $20.  I paired the jumpsuit with a sequin jacket from Torrid. I love that this outfit is so comfy and chic all at the same time!

What article of clothing makes you happy?

The Cat's Meow: Not Your Typical Anything...

There are many reasons why I love Franceta and her blog Frantic Dreams. It could be because she's uber talented, it could be because her style is amazing, and it could be because she is so kind, and this list could go on all day. This week when I went to her blog Frantic Dreams I was floored by her post "Just Your Everyday Typical Blogger"! Franceta's pictures were amazing, and so was her outfit! I love it when clothes look so effortlessly put together and hers did! Such creativity and so well put together! If you don't read her blog, please do you won't regret it!

Spring 2011 Miss Tina Collection at Walmart

Not shopping is way harder than what I thought! But, like I planned I am spending time reading, cleaning out my closet, and going through my magazines looking for key pieces to add to my Spring wardrobe. Today, I was flipping through the new Essences Magazine, when I ran across Toccara's column on fashion. This week she featured her favorite selections from the Miss Tina Collection at Walmart. I know that a lot of people are very skeptical about Walmart, and Miss Tina, but I think some of her Spring collection is going to have a few great pieces! When the collection first launched I dared to purchase the body conscious leopard dress, I found the quality and the fit of the dress to be great for Walmart. Tocarra featured 2 pieces that I absolutely want for the upcoming season. This black jumpsuit is so cute! I love the fluidity of the material, the  design. I also love this peach dress! It looks perfect for spring/summer fun! I live for cute, breezy dresses when the weather warms up. Of course all of my feelings may change when I try them on, but I doubt it. Both pieces are priced under $20.00.

Thanks to Toccarra and Essence's Magazine I am now officially stalking Walmart and the Miss Tina collection for these two pieces. Ms. Knowles collections comes up to a XXL and a size 20. Pick up a copy of February's Essence Magazine if you want to read more or you can to to Essence's Online for a look at more. What do you guys think about these two pieces? I look forward to hearing from you!!!

Guerrilla's In The Mist

Is anyone else stuck in the house cause of the snow and ice storm? I am and I am so ready to get out! I think I have read every magazine, book, and blog that was on my to do list!

Anywhoo, it's no secret that I love leopard, fur and leather. This post features 2 of the 3! I got this furry vest in California when I was there for FFF Week. I have been eyeing for a while, but I wasn't sure if it was too much. Who am I kidding I don't really understand the definition of too much! It made me laugh that Nik and Mo referred to it as the Guerrilla vest. I paired it with a black men's t-shirt, a black mini skirt from Asos Curve, and leopard wedges from Forever 21. I have been stalking these leopard wedges for the past season so when Forever 21 put them back on sale I jumped all over them! Have you ever stalked anything or waited to buy something you want?

P.S. Excuse my windblown hair... It was super cold and windy out that day! And thanks to my amazing bestie Charel for taking my pics!!!

After reading one of my favorite blogs Frantic Dreams  I was convinced by the lovely Franceta to enter the Pay It Forward 2011 Challenge. I love making jewelry, t-shirts, and various other things. Give me a glue gun, a box of findings and you will have a happy girl!  Originated by Carla of Messy Carla I am extremely excited to participate in this challenge! Here are the rules from Carla's blog as given by Franceta:
Pay it forward 2011 - I promise to make something handmade for the first FIVE people who comment.
They must in turn, post this and make something for the first FIVE who comment on their status (blog post).
The rules are it has to be handmade by you, and they must receive it before 2011 ends.
Now both Franceta and Carla are extremely daring and they are going to make things for 10 people. I'm going to do 5 people! I am taking baby steps, lol!

Fashion Fast 2011

Hello,  my name is Jeniese and I am a shopaholic. Yep I'm hooked. I love the phrases "your package has been dispatched", "50% off clearance" and "new items posted". Everyday I peruse my favorite stores, websites, and blogs looking for new and exciting things (usually to buy). I find myself wanting more and more. By all standards I receive at least 1 package a week.Yes, I can admit that I have a problem. But now it must stop, I have to stop feeding the beast.

I don't know what changed my mind. It could be the various and asundrious pairs of shoes that I bought in the month of December. It could be because every time I comb through my closet I find something else that I forgot that I purchased. All I know is that I want to take some time and enjoy the things I have. Relish in my closet and focus on challenging myself to style what already there. So for the next 31 days I am going to attempt not to purchase any clothes. YES I said it I am NOT going to purchase any clothing for the next 31 days. I am going to wear what is in my closet, and I am going to focus on other things. Things like getting manis and pedis, buying new make-up, learning how to thrift, styling other people and finally organizing my tear sheets.

This month I am going to post OOTD post of things that I have been meaning to photograph for the past few months. Some of my favorite bloggers show you great ways re-wear items in your wardrobe over and over. I want to try my hand at all of this. So I need all of your help to stick this out, and stay the course. I have already failed today because I logged onto Forever 21 and bought back the black floral culottes from last summer and I had to have them. This is going to be a long month.

P.S. I am so totally excited about winning one of the The Curvy Fashionista 2nd Anniversary contest. I won a piece of DAMN YOU ALEXIS CLOTHING!!!! So excited! Here is a bright spot in my no shopping saga! Anyone want to guess what piece I picked out? I can't wait to show everyone!

Thanks for reading
J

The Cat's Meow

I remember things in fashion. From traumatic events to  the happiest times of my life. There have been many designers to leave an impression on my mind, but the one that has inspired me the most has been hands down Tom Ford. From his resurrection of Gucci and YSL to his own personal collection, Ford never disappoints me. I remember his 1996 Jersey collection that had holes cut in strategic places. And the collection with the metallic heels, Mariah Carey wore them in her Honey video. I could go on and on about Ford's work! This evening I came across a video on YouTube That featured his Spring/Summer '11 video, and I wanted to share it with everyone. The collection featured an amazing mix girly sparkling pieces with menswear inspired pieces in fits that most women would kill for. Set in a very intimate room, Ford sent a mix of socialites, models, actresses and superstars down the catwalk to showcase his designs. I  hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Tell me what you think! Whose your favorite designer? I would love to know.
