Yours, Mine, Ours...

Vest & Skirt- c/o Yours Clothing, Tank-Old Navy, Sandals-Go Jane

As the temperatures rise here in Alabama I am constantly looking for wardrobe staples that will keep me cool in this ridiculous humidity and heat.  I stick to shorts, sundresses and cool tops for most of the summer. When the team at Yours clothing contacted me to try a look from their summer collection, I jumped at the chance to try something that could become a summer staple.

Instantly I loved this white denim vest and mini circle skirt. I mean who doesn’t love a circle skirt. I am so used to wearing pencil skirts to work it’s always a great chance to change it up in my off time to wear a new silhouette. I can’t say enough about how much I love this skirt. It is perfect for this season (i.e. you will see it again)! The vest is also a great summertime topper to finish a look off! In the fall I love having a jacket or blazer to top off my look, so this serves in the same function.

Have you guys ordered anything from Yours yet? What did you get?!

From Here To Eternity...

Dress- c/o Swak Designs, Necklace-Bauble Bar, Shoes-Target(old), Sunnies-BCBG(old)

There isn’t very much I am intimidated by fashion wise, except for the convertible dress. But alas, I am a true example of if you give a woman too many options I may run for the hills. I was never very sure of how to tie the dress, how to wear the dress and if I could pull it off.  When the lovely folks at SWAK Designs contacted me about trying one I knew I had to overcome my fear. A closet staple for many women, the plus size convertible dress offers an extreme versatility that will last a lifetime, how can I not give it a try. I did a bit of research on the dress and I was shocked by how easy SWAK has made choosing a style and learning how to tie the dress.

SWAK Designs has a series of amazing styles for the dress and they have artfully created instructional videos that teach you how tie each style. As a novice the convertible dress these videos were extremely helpful in assisting me on how to secure the different styles I was interested in. Even my Mom got in on the deal and loved the idea of the dress. The style I was most drawn too was the “Maya Dress”. I found this style to be edgy and very different from the normal ways that I have seen most plus size convertible dresses styled over the years.   To complete my look I added this multi-chain bib necklace from Bauble Bar (that I am totally obsessed with) and a simple pair of nude shoes.

The Eternity dress was extremely comfortable, I love the fact that I felt like a million dollars and I was wearing a cool, comfortable dress that could easily transition from day to night as well as from casual to dressy.  Right along with my fear over this dress I have to also admit that I thought the plus size convertible dress was a bit of a cliché, but let me tell you I have to admit I was wrong! I am excited to have this classic addition to my closet. Stay tuned I am going to try this dress another way and post it too my blog.
Have y’all tried a plus size convertible dress? How do you feel about its place in your wardrobe?

Sometimes you got to chill...

Jacket-Old Navy, Tank-Old Navy, Shorts-DIY, Shoes-It's Fashion Metro, Clutch-Stuart Weitzman, Sunnies-BCBG

Sometimes I just got to chill… With my schedule (2 jobs, a blog and a social life) I often don’t want to be bothered with getting dressed up. On the rare day off, I usually want to slip on my favorite cut offs and head out for the nearest place that has bottomless mimosas. Cutoffs are so effortless and so chic. For this Sunday outing I paired them with my camo jacket, tank top and cute comfy wedges.

Anyone have a go too look on a relaxed day of doing nothing? I’m always looking for new ideas!

I am so excited about this edition of the #30PlusStyle collaboration!!! This month we tackle swimsuits! The most daunting task in a woman’s life has to be shopping for swimsuits. It’s never easy to prepare yourself to purchase something that amounts to little more than your underwear. No matter how overwhelming the process is the happiness that comes with finding the right suit is worth it.

In the last few years purchasing swimsuits has gotten easier on the plus size girl, we have far more offerings than we used too, I will spare you stories from my childhood. We have Monif C., Swimsuits For All and Forever 21 just to name a few! As with any pieces of clothing, my tried and true rules for finding a suit boil down to go with what makes you feel amazing!

I found this suit while I was running through Forever 21. From the fringe to the color the entire look was calling my name! It was love at first try on. I paired it with a cover up from TJ Maxx and my favorite and I was pool ready! So how do you feel about swimsuits? Are you obsessed? Or are you still scared of them?

Lots of Dots...

Bodysuit-Old (Similar), Skirt-Jibri(soldout)(similar), Sunglasses-Prada, Shoes-Zara(old), Bracelets-Ashley Stewart

Earlier this year I introduced y’all to one of my favorite Spring Collections from Jibri. I absolutely loved the bold colors and the prints she used in this collection. One of my most favorite pieces was this polka dot maxi skirt. Easily worn for night or for day, this skirt has the versatility to be a long standing closet classic. It was the perfect length and weight that I can wear in this southern heat until winter time.

I paired the skirt with an old body suit that I have had for a while and a pair of pumps. Anyone buy anything form the Jibri Spring collection yet? I have one more skirt that I am eyeing!
