Hi Everyone!!! This post is the first in a series of three post this week
sponsored by Catherines! We are exploring a few of our favorite fall items that
are perfect for work at Catherines!
Some days I absolutely don’t feel like getting dressed and I
want to stay in my pajamas for as long as possible. On those days I rummage through
my closet until I find the most comfortable item that I can find for work. And
let’s be honest finding extra comfortable work appropriate looks aren’t the easiest
thing to do. This dress from Catherines absolutely fits the bill. It’s
comfortable, cozy and I felt like I had slipped on my favorite pair of pj's. Adding
my favorite headwrap, a pair of booties and a gold earring, completed my comfortable
look.
The bright fall color encouraged me to figure out a few ways
to style this dress, so I could wear it frequently. I can imagine endless ways
to style it. A heavy cardigan or a belt
would be fabulous styling options.
What do you wear when you don’t feel like getting dressed?
Do you have a go to look or style?

Jacket | Pants | Shoes | Bag - Similar | Sunnies- Love these and these |
Happy New Year Everyone!!! I hope you had a fabulous holiday season! As I was looking through my blog one of the things I hardly ever talk about is work wear. Which is odd, since I spend most of my time at work. So I want to introduce to you 9 to 5 To Stay Alive a series that I will post to discuss work wear and any questions you have about it! Though my office is business casual there is still occasions when I have to dress up for different events. When I first started out in my career I wore suits and stockings daily and how quickly I realized that wasn't the life for me. My ever present need to represent my feelings through fashion always rears it's head no matter what.
This year I want to include a few more post on work wear. Honestly it can be hard to navigate through and easy to lose yourself in what you think is appropriate. Injecting your personal style into your work style isn't as hard as you might think. It can be as simple as wearing your favorite color, or your favorite shape of suit, or even your accessories.
If you follow me on Pinterest then you know I love a good suit. Suiting can be so powerful, but with the wrong cut and the wrong shape it can also be dowdy. When I saw this suit at Eloquii's headquarters back in November I knew it had to be mine. The shape of the sleeves, the easy fit of the pants it was too perfect to not add to my wardrobe. All of the styling possibilities of these two pieces went running through my mind!
So how do you feel about work wear? What is your style when it comes to what you wear to work? Do you have any questions on work wear?
Thank you for reading!

This post is sponsored by Just My Size. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
If you’ve been reading my blog for a while then you know that versatility is my personal key to building a strong wardrobe. Honestly, if I can’t wear an item at least three different ways on three different occasions why on earth should I buy it? Unless of course, I consider the piece to be art. When Just My Size challenged me to style their Goddess Dress in two different ways, I jumped at the chance to flex my styling muscles!
Just a little about the dress, I’m wearing a 3X and I loved the softness and breathability of the jersey fabric. Since winter is just rolling around I’ve been expanding my wardrobe with things that are seasonless. The Goddess dress is essentially ideal for so many occasions from work, church or a night on the town. And did I mention that they are super affordable, priced under $30.00?
Since I go out less and less these days, my main wardrobe consists of what I wear to work, so I love pieces that I can style for both uses. Having items that go from day to night are often a lifesaver when I’m running through my busy schedule. Don’t you agree? For my daytime look, I paired my favorite camel vest with a pair of nude pumps and bag. Normally I would have leaned towards black accessories but for the daytime but I wanted to dabble with neutrals.
Heading out after work? To turn it up a notch, I added black pumps, a dangly earring, a clutch and a darker lippie. Moving it even further from my work look, I slid my dress off the shoulder, creating the perfect after-5-PM look.
During this busy Holiday season, it’s essential for me to survive by wearing looks that translate from occasion to occasion. Just My Size’s collection of dresses is honestly perfect for doing so.
Thank you for partnering with me Just My Size.
What are you looking for in a dress this season? Have you checked out Just My Size’s collection of dresses? I also love this ruffle sleeve dress!

Jacket c/o - Addition Elle | Top | Jeans | Shoes | Sunnies | Bag |
For as long as I can remember I've been in loved with military and band embellishments on clothing. You can even ask my Mom how long I begged for majorette boots to wear with my school dresses, or how I didn't understand that they weren't practical. I have a fairly large collection of jackets with these embellishments on them, but up until now I didn't I hadn't added a denim one to my collection. It only felt right for me to pick this one out from Additional Elle. Literally I am obsessed with this jacket.
I keep playing a million and one ways to wear it and finally decided that I should preserve it instead of wearing it out (sigh). The detailing, the gold buttons, the shape and the fit make this the most amazing jacket ever. Perfect for adding some pizazz to a maxi dress or a pair of jeans. Pairing it was jeans and this romantic white blouse was such an easy look. It was a good balance of trend and classic. Any further and I may or may not have looked like Captain Hook.
Fall has so many amazing band/military embellished pieces out. Have you found one that you like? If so what are they? I may or may not want to buy them too, LOL!

Dress c/o- Simply Be, Shoes | Bag | Sunnies |
Does anyone else think that summer has flown by? Since beating the heat and still looking put together are my main priorities these days it's been so easy to put on a dress and go. When Simply Be asked me to partner with them to pick out my favorite maxi dress I was drawn to this beautiful kelly green number. Easy to dress up or down, this is the perfect dress to put on for any occasion. Of course my favorite detail is the off the shoulder action (lolol).
Below I've linked up several of my favorite maxi dresses from Simply Be. They have so many beautiful options for every occasion. I am a little obsessed with several of the floral print ones. What have y'all been wearing this summer? Do you feel like you blinked and it's flown by?

Earlier this month I had the extreme pleasure of being invited to explore Philadelphia with Catherine's. Since I've never been to been to Philly I jumped all over the chance to go and spend some time with my Catherine's Family. This time I was joined by two more bloggers, my boo Sandra from La Pecosa Preciosa and Alex from the You Tube channel Learning To Be Fearless. Getting to spend time with other bloggers is always so much fun for me!
We stayed at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco, which was so plush, in the heart of Old City Philadelphia. Old City is home to so many historical sights including Penn Landing, Independence Mall and the Historic Museum. It was so cool to see so many of these places!
We also visited the famous "Rocky Steps" on the Philadelphia Museum of Arts and they are no joke! Getting a chance to run up and down the steps was hilarious and quite a workout (currently looking for good steps in Birmingham to recreate this workout). We had a ton of fun reenacting the iconic scene from one of my favorite movies. After that we explored the majestic artistry of South Street and the Magic Gardens. They are unlike anything I've ever seen! I am totally obsessed with the area.
The highlight of my trip was getting to go to the Roots Picnic! If you've been reading my blog for a while, you know how much I love live music. The Roots Picnic was high atop my list of festivals I wanted to go to, and this did not disappoint. Seeing Solange live and in person was life changing, and I do mean life changing. She is pure artistry in motion and the images of her preforming will forever be in my mind. Watching Pharrell perform with the Roots was pretty epic as well.
One thing that Philly definitely has is epic food. We ate at so many amazing places, including my personal favorites, Buddakan and Butcher & Singer. Getting a chance to have an official Philly cheesecake and water ice were the perfect ending to a great weekend. Eating in Philly is definitely a main attraction!
The entire weekend I wore so many amazing looks from Catherine's that fit right into the exploration of Philly. My looks were comfortable and fashionable. I am still completely obsessed with the green maxi dress and printed pants. Oh and the workout pants are the best workout pants I've ever worn, seriously. The waist band is thick, the cotton is soft and I walked three miles in them and didn't have to pull them up once! Catherine's fit is generous, I am a 22/24 in most clothes and I wear a 1x to 2x in Catherine's. Most of my dresses were a 1x with the exception of the white lace off the shoulder dress. I could have gone with the 1x, but I didn't want it to be too tight. You can head to the Catherine's site to check out all of the looks I wore on the trip
Have any of you ever been to Philly? Did you love it? I am planning to back soon!

Jacket & Pants C/O Roaman's Fashion; Top, Shoes , Sunnies-(Similar) |
Have you ever been there? Feeling the brunt of being caught between self- imposed changes and forced changes. I wanted to share a few of my tips for figure out and dealing with change:
- Make a list of what needs changing - List always help me identify the problems/changes that need to happen.
- Take a t.v. time out - Rest and relaxation are key needs in enacting change in your life. No good changes ever come out of being frazzled.
- Try a tiny superficial change- Maybe it's your hair, eyebrows, nail color or style that needs some updating. I am currently experimenting lots with my hair so that's been distracting me.
- Think of your overall goals - Always keep in mind what you want out of life, make sure your changes are going to continue to get your there.
I hope this helps someone going through changes or caught up in the midst of change. I know it's hard sometimes, but often we don't even realize how necessary change is.
What about you my dear readers? How do you deal with change? How do you cope? Do you find change difficult?

Blazer | Pants | Shoes | Sunglasses |
Have you ever had an outfit make to make you feel like a boss? Like a bonafide boss? Well this one made me feel like the biggest boss ever! It was love at first sight when this suit dropped on Eloquii! Who wouldn't be obsessed with a ruffled sleeve blazer!!! Sorry don't mean to yell, but this is the type of fashion that really gets me excited. The ruffles on this blazer are the perfect detail to take an item from a basic piece to a piece of art.
When I put this on I felt like a street style star on the way to a show in Paris, or like I could conquer the deal when I walked into the boardroom. The blazer is also super easy to mix and match with jeans. Sigh... Would y'all noticed if I wore this everyday? Okay I guess you would. As far as fit goes, I got a 20 in the jacket and a 22 in the pants which are my normal Eloquii sizes.
This suit has been sitting in my closet waiting for them to get it back in, but it's still a waitlisted item. But I can't say enough that if you're interested get on the waitlist. I love that Eloquii restocks items that are in high demand.
Thank you for reading!
