If you’re not new to my blog then you know that comfort is
key to my looks. If it’s uncomfortable then I absolutely will not wear it. That
extends to my undies. I take a lot of pride in finding comfortable, well fitting
underwear that provides a great start to my looks. When Cacique reached out to
me to try their new So Light T-shirt Bra I was eager to try the updated version
of one of my favorite bras.
The updated So Light bra has a light-as-a-feather feel that
has the same great shape and support that I’m used too. This bra is perfect for
wearing your favorite top, it basically disappears under your shirt. I love how comfortable and functional this bra
is. I spent most of my Sunday lounging around in this while deciding what to
wear. It was so deliciously soft and light that I didn't feel like I had a thing on.

Even though plus-size shopping has come a long way, I’m forever looking for somewhere new to shop. Honestly who doesn’t want more options, more looks, and more selections. Now typically I ignore when Instagram suggest a new boutique to me, thinking they don’t know me at all. I couldn’t however skip over Chic Soul when they kept popping up, time after time in my feed. I really liked the easy-going style that would work well in my everyday wardrobe, especially for work.
Being skeptical of online boutiques, my biggest question is it going to fit? Or is this going to fit more like juniors plus instead of regular plus? When I order I hold my breath and pray that it fits. Well I’m happy to report that everything fit according to size. I’m a size 18/20 or a 22 and the 3x was a bit roomy for me. I could have ordered everything in a 2x. One side note, I really like Chic Soul’s selection and that they restock items if it sells out. I’m much happier as a shopper if I’m not agonizing over an item I didn’t buy in time.
Of the items I got this leopard kimono and the blush colored dress were my favorite. I’ve been able to style it 3 ways over and I love having the option of wearing them together or separate. Versatility is key to my wardrobe, so is comfort.

This outfit jumped out to me immediately when I opened Eloquii's website. I was immediately drawn to the soft leopard print and floral print. I mean florals and leopards mixed together are my jam. I knew I wanted it, then I started to psych myself out with my fashion math. Will I wear it, does it make sense, can it fit into my wardrobe. Honestly all of these are great questions to ask when shopping, but sometimes you need to let the joy of an outfit move you to purchase. There is absolutely nothing wrong with buying things because they bring you pure joy and will continue to bring you joy over and over again.
As far as fit goes I'm wearing a 20 in both pieces and probably would like the bottoms in a size 22. It has absolutely no stretch, so if you have a larger arms or thighs, you might want to keep that in mind when ordering. I am not at all disappointed by the look, definitely my favorite purchase of the summer!

Not in a million years would I ever think that I would have
too many swimsuits. When I started blogging years ago, the fatkini revolution
was just getting started and women everywhere were rejoicing the change in plus
size swimwear. These days we have so many choices in swimwear. I even dare to
say that plus size swimwear is better than straight-size swimwear. On vacation my
friends discuss how much they are jealous of my suits and cover up.
One thing that I noticed was missing from my swim looks was
a sporty swimsuit that I could wear for Aqua Zumba and swimming laps. I knew I
didn’t want a super official sporty swimsuit, but I did want something cute and
comfortable for water activities. So when Catherines reached out to partner with me on a post about swimwear, this was the perfect opportunity for me to find the swimsuit I had been looking for.
I picked out this super cute black, palm print swimsuit that
has a secure zipper closure in the bustline, I also picked this leopard kaftan as a cover up. It’s always been my goal in life to be a woman who wears caftans
and red lipstick on a daily basis. Back to the swimsuit, the fit was true to size
(I got a 22), I felt comfortable and very secure in the bust area. It is a cute
as it is functional which was what was important to me. I swam laps and didn’t
worry about a body part making an unexpected appearance. The kaftan is s size 1x
and the fit is super generous, I’m a size 20-22 for reference. I can’t wait to
sport this combo during vacation this week! What kind of swimsuit are you looking for this season?

True story when I was in Lane Bryant shopping for this dress, a man tried to convince his wife to try on one of the polka dot dresses that I ended up leaving the store with and she absolutely refused. I could hear her whisper I would never wear that much print. I sighed and imagined having a Stacey London moment with her in the dressing room, but I could tell she was terrified to try the polka dots. Of course the antiquated rules of fashion have ingrained in so many women that the less print the better, I absolutely refuse to follow this rule. I will wear whatever print I want, whenever I want. Honestly even if I wore all black from head to toe I would still look like I was size 22, cause I am.
Now that my rant is over, this year is truly the year of the polka dot. I am soooo very happy to see one of my favorite prints in full effect all over the place. I'm also really happy to see the plus-size market on trend, on time for once. It's nice to be fashionable at the same time is everyone else! I went in Lane Bryant a few weeks ago and fell in love with two dresses and almost picked between the two, but my Instagram followers made me see reason and I bought both dresses. Because honestly I would have regretted not buying them. This one was so fun and I loved the two sizes of polka dot and the fact that it can be worn dressy or casually.
I went with a size 22/24, for a little bit of room, but the 18/20 fit fine as well. Since polka dots are so classic I know won't regret going a bit over board adding items to my collection. Y'all life is hard, but getting dressed shouldn't be. The last thing anyone needs is to stand in front of their closets with dread on a daily basis. Our lives are filled daily with so many ups and downs, the last thing you want is a wardrobe filled with things that make you feel anything but joy. I'm no Marie Kondo (just one look in my room would let you know this), but I'm deeply moved by owning things that make me happy. I look at my closet as constantly changing work of art. Complete with functional and nonsensical items that make me extremely happy for different reasons. Buying items that are easy to wear, comfortable and versatile should bring you joy and peace. Having those go too items make it so easy to get dressed.
One of these joyous items is this black dress from The Who What Wear Collection that brought me immense joy the second I saw it in stores. I knew it was the perfect black dress to get me through the summer. Perfect silhouette, breathable fabric, neutral color, delicate detailing, pockets and it was under $40! The absolute perfect dress for me to wear to work, church, lunch, brunch, drinks, you get my drift. I can't lie I was super tempted to buy it in the white as well, but I didn't.
I've had this dress on a bit of repeat since I got it! It wears so well in the sweltering Alabama heat. So does your closet fill you with joy? Or do you dread it when it's time to get dressed? Suddenly finding yourself wearing a size 10 shoe in sixth grade makes shoe shopping a gift and a curse. Having your feet grow to a size 11 as an adult makes it even harder. My feet have always been one of my arch nemesis. From an early age I wished that my feet would just stop growing. Of course they never did.
Over the years shoe shopping has gotten way better, but occasionally I have a hard time finding that perfect fit. This year I was searching for the perfect red boot that didn't have too high of a heel, was the perfect shade of red and had the right toe shape. So when Shoes of Prey approached me about designing my own shoe, I jumped all over the chance.
Having the ability to go in and customize my own shoe is priceless. I spent so much time browsing the inspirational shoe photos, looking at what other people created. Then I finally decided to stick with my guns and make a red boot. Then I created exactly what I spent months looking for. A red boot with a lower chunky heel! You also so get the chance to customize even the smallest detail of your show, the sole, lining and the zipper! I was completely blown away that I could put my name inside of my boot! As a Southern Belle I love any opportunity to have something monogramed (LOL).

Happy New Year Everyone!!! I hope you had a fabulous holiday season! As I was looking through my blog one of the things I hardly ever talk about is work wear. Which is odd, since I spend most of my time at work. So I want to introduce to you 9 to 5 To Stay Alive a series that I will post to discuss work wear and any questions you have about it! Though my office is business casual there is still occasions when I have to dress up for different events. When I first started out in my career I wore suits and stockings daily and how quickly I realized that wasn't the life for me. My ever present need to represent my feelings through fashion always rears it's head no matter what.
This year I want to include a few more post on work wear. Honestly it can be hard to navigate through and easy to lose yourself in what you think is appropriate. Injecting your personal style into your work style isn't as hard as you might think. It can be as simple as wearing your favorite color, or your favorite shape of suit, or even your accessories.
If you follow me on Pinterest then you know I love a good suit. Suiting can be so powerful, but with the wrong cut and the wrong shape it can also be dowdy. When I saw this suit at Eloquii's headquarters back in November I knew it had to be mine. The shape of the sleeves, the easy fit of the pants it was too perfect to not add to my wardrobe. All of the styling possibilities of these two pieces went running through my mind!

I 've been addicted to sequins for as long as I could remember. They are perfect for absolutely any occasion. Every holiday season I have to stop myself from taking the sequin addiction too far. Conversations in my mind sound like self... do you really need another sequin jacket?! Of course I do! Now I just like to think of this section of my closet as my sequin collection. That makes me a collector right? See how I justify that.
Back in August I was the TCF Style Expo and I picked up this Courtney Noelle duster! I love buying pieces from independent designers. They are always on the cutting edge of styles, fabrics and designs. Since this duster was the show piece I paired with simple black tank, jeans and pumps. I was also excited to try my new favorite lippie from Nars called Paint It Black. Sooo I sprained my ankle and my holiday looks are all changing cause no heals for me any time soon (smh).
